Curriculum - Reporting and Assessment

Assessment

A process of continuous assessment is used in first and second years. Assessment by a variety of methods takes place at intervals throughout the year. These intervals vary from subject to subject. Various forms of assessments are used, for example, listening, speaking, written and practical tests.

Assessment results are used to monitor and support pupil progress through confirming strengths and needs, and identifying the next steps.

In third and fourth years assessments and tests lead to preliminary examinations in fourth year prior to final Standard Grade examinations.

In fifth and sixth years, a similar pattern is followed.

Reports

Parents receive initial settling in reports in Term 1 and full reports in either Term 2 or 3. The full reports are followed by a Parents' Meeting for each year group held at an appropriate time of the year. Parents are most welcome to request an additional progress report at any time during the session.
