The City of Edinburgh Council is reviewing its existing policy on the photography and videoing (including digital photography) of children and young people in educational establishments. Until the review is complete the school operates the following policy.
The policy is intended to take into account the legal duty of care and ensure that children are appropriately protected. Accordingly, as part of the enrolment process, parents/guardians will be requested, in writing, to give their consent to photography and videoing their child/children during the course of their education. Photography and videoing is currently used in Forrester for educational purposes and includes the following.
- Personal Identification and record keeping.
- Curricular purposes.
- Extra-curricular activities such as concerts, sporting events and community events.
- Staff development or training of teachers and other council staff.
- School web sites.
- School class or group photographs.
- Newspapers or TV.
- Assessment purposes.
- Display in schools.
